Ferrule-type pipe fittings consist of three parts: the fitting body, the ferrule, and the nut. When the ferrule and nut are slipped onto the steel pipe and inserted into the fitting body, tightening the nut causes the outer front end of the ferrule to align with the tapered surface of the fitting body, while the inner edge uniformly bites into the seamless steel pipe, forming an effective seal.
